On July 22nd, the Boston University Wet Lab and Hardware iGEM teams and some of their mentors traveled to Monsanto to present their projects and tour its facilities. Monsanto is a company whose purpose is “to work alongside farmers, academics and society and find solutions to make agriculture more sustainable.” The company is generously sponsoring both teams.

The visit began with a Cambridge Monsanto representative, Larry Gilbertson, giving a presentation about Monsanto and the Cambridge branch’s work on creating sustainable agriculture through protein optimization of food crops. The Wetlab and Hardware teams presented their projects, and each team had a Q&A session with the Monsanto employees in attendance.

After the presentations, the teams and their mentors toured Monsanto’s facilities and offices.
